Summer Flounder Fishery

The Summer Flounder is an important recreational species found in our local waters.  MRMTC is interested in seeing that this fishery continues to be vibrant and available.  Please visit the Save The Summer Flounder Fishery Fund website for further information about measures that you can take to support efforts to avoid a shutdown of this fishery in 2009.

Reef Rescue

In the past 23 years, the DEP has built 15 Ocean reef sites and constructed over 4,000 rock reefs.  Its immediate environmental success was shown by quick colonization by over 150 species, forming productive biological communities.

Marine anglers and divers supported this program and MRMTC has been very actively involved over the years in the NJ reef program.  Unfortunately, large numbers of fish and lobster pots are being depolyed on these reefs, making it very difficult for the divers and fisherman to gain access to the very reefs we've supported.  Legislative efforts are underway to limit the deployment of pots on the artificial reefs.  Please take time to visit the NJ Reef Rescue Website to get more information about how you can help support their efforts by clicking HERE .
